Bainbridge Residence
The interior of this Bainbridge home drew its inspiration from the landscape. Located on two wooded, low bank acres on Bainbridge Island’s west coast, it enjoys abundant daylight and panoramic sunsets.
This Northwest contemporary features water and mountain views from nearly every room. To honor this idyllic setting, I borrowed from Bainbridge Island’s agricultural barn vernacular and incorporated indigenous materials to design a structure reflecting its unique place and stunning environment. The result is a home of sophisticated simplicity with timeless, functional interiors that are comfortable, warm and serene. Informal spaces flow into each other for easy, relaxed living. Built-in storage throughout the home ensures clutter-free rooms, helping create a sense of calm. Walls of windows and skylights bath the interiors in natural light. Even on the grayest of Northwest days the interiors are bright. Extensive windows in every room seamlessly blend the indoors and outdoors creating a home that is ideal for experiencing quiet moments or lively entertaining.
Designed to accommodate real life with family, friends and pets, the interiors are elegantly understated, easily maintained and livable.
