Spokane Club

The Spokane Club, designed in 1909 by one of Spokane’s most celebrated architects, Kirtland Cutter, is listed on the National Historic Register. Originally built as a gentleman’s club, the interiors offered a variety of comfortable, elegant spaces in a masculine aesthetic of wood paneling and ornate trim, with an enormous rock fireplace in the library still in use.

The beauty of the original ornamentation and masterful finish carpentry was buried under many coats of paint, resulting in dated, dull interiors. Sadly, Cutter’s inventive, playful architectural flourishes were obscured. Consequently, my goal was a respectful renovation of Mr. Cutter’s architectural design, refreshing the interiors with a modern sensibility that supported a busy club and hotel.
